The Organic Farmhouse Shop
Fresh from campus to table in Phnom Penh
Anyone who has ever tasted a ripe mango from the fields of the Smiling Gecko Campus will agree: There is no better fruit. Especially not in Cambodia, where most of the heavily contaminated fruit and vegetables come from Vietnam, as Cambodian farmers simply lack the expertise to use the demanding climatic conditions to their advantage.
We have these opportunities on our campus and our products are correspondingly excellent. We hear that repeatedly from our Farmhouse Resort guests, who regularly buy half of our cold storage empty before they leave. Above all, we know this from the sales successes of our Organic Farmhouse Shop, which we operate in Phnom Penh.
Here we sell the fruits and vegetables that we and our farm families produce on campus. The fine products from our bakery and butcher’s shop are also excellently sold here. Last but not least, there is also fresh fish from our farm.
Who buys our products? Most of them are wealthy Cambodians, but many expats from foreign companies and organizations also appreciate food of the best organic quality. Fortunately, both groups are also wealthy enough. Because we are not cheap. But the education of our 400 school children, for example, is not cheap either.
