A CONTAINER OF MUSIC FOR CAMBODIA
A life without music? It’s probably hard for us to imagine. In Cambodia, however, this is the reality. The country’s recent history has meant that large sections of the younger generation grow up without the “natural” integration of music as a form of cultural expression. Widespread poverty and an inadequate school infrastructure also contribute to the lack of cultural expression. We think: This clearly has to change!
In order to offer poor, socially disadvantaged children in Cambodia the opportunity for musical education, Smiling Gecko, in cooperation with the musician Seven, launched the “A container full of music” campaign. A campaign in which private individuals in Switzerland could hand out old or no longer used instruments, which we then sent to Cambodia.

GREAT SUPPORT OF MUSIC HUG AND ITS TRANSPORT
Musik Hug AG supported the campaign with its experts and accepted the instruments handed into its stores as well as repairing and restoring damaged instruments. A big thank you also goes to ITS Transport, who donated the container to us, which was artistically decorated by children from Dübendorf before it set off on the long sea voyage.

OVER 400 INSTRUMENTS FOR CAMBODIA
Violins, guitars, trumpets, but also keyboards and complete drum sets will be played in Cambodia in the future. A wonderful campaign that found a worthy conclusion with a big final event with performances by Seven, the trumpeter Dani Felber and the Dübendorf Region Music School on the Stadthausplatz in Dübendorf.
